Bike-Riding Babes Can Handle A Wrench

NEW ORLEANS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Ladies can work a wrench better than men.

Author Shelley Jackson has written The Chainbreaker Bike Book: A Rough Guide to Bicycle Maintenance (Microcosm Publishing), a how-to guide on fixing bikes, and she’s calling out bike-riding babes on their awesome do-it-yourself abilities.

She explains, “Women are more logical then men, so we’re better at fixing bikes. I’ve seen women go from fixing nothing to fixing bikes, to fixing things in their homes and cars. It’s embarrassing how excited women get about fixing things.”

Through her book, Jackson hopes to get people out of their cars and excited to ride their Schwinn’s again, but they shouldn’t fear a bad fall.

She says, “I got hit by a car on my bike once. I shattered the windshield and broke my leg. It was scary, but it made me want to keep riding so people would learn to respect bikers and give them their space on the street.”
