Oyster Lovers Take Over Texas Town

FULTON, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – For folks in Fulton, Texas, the world is their oyster.

Today (Mar. 6) through Sunday (Mar. 9), the 29th Annual Fulton Oysterfest is coming to the Texas town, and more than 30,000 attendees will feast on different types of oysters, and even build sculptures using oyster shells.

But it’s the famous oyster eating contest that has people fired up, where whoever swallows the most oysters in five minutes takes home the title.

Event coordinator Beverly Garis says, “People just guzzle as many as they can, but then they have to sit there and hold them down. I’ve never seen anyone actually throw up after, but I don’t like to watch anyone eat them so I might have missed it.”

With last year’s winner downing 250 oysters, competitors will have to bring a big appetite to win.
