Celebrate Charles Darwin’s Birthday

ALBANY, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Famous scientist Charles Darwin turns 199 years old tomorrow (Feb. 12) – and it’s time to celebrate!

That’s what the Institute for Humanist Studies is doing with their 13th Annual Darwin Day Celebration on February 12, an event where scientists, scholars, and fans of the famous evolutionist congregate to say happy birthday to the author of the groundbreaking book The Origin of Species (BuenoLab).

Event spokesperson Duncan Crary has a few tasty, tough tips for anyone hoping to toast Darwin.

He says, “You can raise a glass, cook up primordial soup or have a fish fry, or read his theory of evolution, though it might be a heavy read.”

But Crary advises folks to not forget the other two important holidays around Darwin’s birthday.

Crary says, “Young lovers probably shouldn’t forego Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14) for Darwin Day, or give Darwin beards as a gift instead of chocolates. But Abraham Lincoln’s birthday is the same day. You can wear Lincoln and Darwin beards and tell people why you look so interesting.”
