Comedians Cruise Country, Control Cursing

BOSTON (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Looking for laughs drove one filmmaker down a hard, hilarious highway.

Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights – Hollywood to the Heartland chronicles the month-long tour of Vince Vaughn and four of his comedian pals playing out-of-the-way arenas in cities like Little Rock, Arkansas, Birmingham, Alabama, and El Paso, Texas.

Director Ari Sandel – best known for his 2007 Academy-Award winning short film West Bank Story – says the trip was a gritty getaway – sort of.

He says, “It’s not like, ‘Poor me,’ I mean, we got to cruise the country, which is awesome. But we had no idea what the hell we were getting ourselves into doing 30 days straight. After the fourth day, filming 18 hours a day, it got grueling – like, ‘When’s the next shower or meal?’”

And while they didn’t hit any roadblocks, the comedy crew was almost silenced by one Southern city.

He says, “We played a clean show in Birmingham, Alabama. No cursing. Two of these comics use the “F” word every other word! But they kept it clean, they were professional.”

Wild West Comedy Show hits theaters this Friday (Feb. 8).
