Rockers Let Their Geek Flag Fly

DALLAS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One rock group is using reality TV to get their nerdy message to the masses.

With their breakout song, “Hail to the Geek,” Dallas-based rockers Deaf Pedestrians are striking a chord with nerdy fans, who relate to geeky lyrics like: I play Dungeons and Dragons/ I got a 13th level halfling fighter thief/ Got seven hit die on my backstab/ Sometimes you know it’s good to be a geek.

Frontman Chuck Parker wrote the song about his own nerdy hobbies, and says, “I didn’t realize there’d be so many people who’d say, ‘Hell yeah, nerd power!’”

And the dorky ditty is taking off – it’s already been featured on shows like Beauty and the Geek and My Super Sweet 16.

And while Parker would rather watch Battlestar Galactica than the shows that feature his song, he’s grateful he can get his dweeby message to the masses.

Parker says, “Reality TV is satanic, but I’m not going to complain. I’ve been digging through my couch cushions for change, so I’ll take it!”

Deaf Pedestrian’s debut album, ...And Other Distractions, hits shelves February 12. For more info, check out
