Contractors Put The Hammer Down On New Show

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The chaotic world of construction is about to get a reality renovation.

John DeSilvia and John Palanca are the building bosses behind Under Construction, a new show that takes the hammer to traditional do-it-yourself programming by showing the real, behind-the-scenes world of big city construction and renovation.

The show will still give viewers the finer points of fixing- up, but the two Johns – who have run contracting company Design Tech together for 15 years – say the real drama is in the eccentric employees.

DeSilvia says, “A couple days ago we had a plumber fall through the ceiling. We have some quirky employees. They should have their own reality show!”

Palanca adds, “You’ll see us fire people. It’s part of the business.”

But despite putting the hammer down, the building big wigs bear the brunt of the workload.

Palanca says, “The complications with contracting are endless – dealing with eight jobs, eight clients, eight architects, eight engineers. It’s a crazy way to make a living.”

Under Construction premieres next Tuesday (Jan. 15) on DIY Network.
