Battle Of Secessionville Causing Big Bang

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – For the city of Charleston, South Carolina, seceding from the Union is a yearly event.

Today (Nov. 9) through Sunday (Nov. 11), is the 18th Annual Battle of Secessionville, where the town time-warps back to 1862, and the Confederates try to hold their ground while the Union storms the city.

Spokesman Wayne Dukes’ report from the front line is that the reenacted battle isn’t just all fun and games.

He explains, “This is a well practiced, scripted battle. Most of us have been doing this for years. We’re reliving history.”

But some of the young infantrymen aren’t always excited to follow orders, and go overboard with the cannons and horses, so they must be kept in line.

Says Dukes, “They gotta do what we tell them to do, or they go home. That’s just the way it is.”
