Christians Racing To Burn Up Books

PARIS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Christians are aching to burn up some bad books, and according to one historian, they’ve been doing it for centuries.

Lucien Polastron, who’s written Books On Fire: The Destruction of Libraries Throughout History (Inner Traditions), says Christians have been burning everything from children’s books to political pieces since the religion was founded because the literature threatens their beliefs.

Polastron says that the worst of the book-burning believers are found in Spain, where they “hated Jews and other religions. They even destroyed the history of the Mayan Aztecs. They are the champions of destroying books.”

Polastron feels that books are a sacred part of life, but easily forgotten.

He explains, “In World War II, thousands of people died with the bombings, but people forgot about the books. They were destroyed too.”

Books On Fire is on shelves now.
