Horror Novelist Dismembers Girlfriend, Shocks Nobody

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – When life imitates art for a horror novelist, the results are shocking and scary, but not surprising.

Last Monday (Oct. 8), macabre Mexican writer Jose Luis Calva was arrested for mutilating his girlfriend, dismembering her body, and boiling her flesh, but it was the dangerous discovery of his novel, Cannibalistic Instincts, that’s bringing the wicked and weary world of writers into flesh-eating focus.

Horror writer Tom Kennedy, author of The Twelve (BookSurge Publishing), explains, “Most horror writers are so jaded they probably took it in stride. I find it abhorring, but not impossible to think of.”

Kennedy has also spent years in the haunts of Hollywood as a writer, director, and eerie editor, but his current gig is leaving him in some not so serious stitches.

Kennedy is working on an upcoming VeggieTales project, and he says, “We’re laughing so hard when we write these scripts. On one hand I’m writing horror, and on the other I’m making silly vegetable puns. It’s all part of a day’s work.”
