Food Fight!

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A real food fight is getting underway in cafeterias across the country.

The School Nutrition Association is sponsoring The Vote For School Lunch campaign, a nationwide contest to choose kids’ favorite lunchtime meals that kicks off tomorrow (Sept. 7) in Polk County, Florida.

Students will be asked to pick between the five food choices: “Jesse Wrap,” “Biff Burger,” “Pippa Potato,” “Patty Mac ‘n’ Cheese,” and “Yumi Rice Bowl,” and the winner will go belly-to-belly with last year’s champ, “Pete Pizza,” for the cafeteria crown.

In addition to kids voting for their cafeteria champ, they’ll also be dressing the part, showing up to school in hamburger or pizza costumes to show their stomach’s support.

Spokesman Erik Peterson says the voting process is a fun way for kids to learn that their favorite foods can be healthy while still being tasty.

And while millions of students will vote, Peterson believes that since all the options are fabulous, he’ll be happy with whoever wins the fantastic food fight.
