Travelers Tred Lightly On Mayan Ruins

BILLINGS, Mont. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One upscale adventure travel company is paddling hard against the notion of the ugly American.

Austin-Lehman Adventurers lead multi-sport adventure getaways to over 80 destinations, from Central America to Australia, but it’s their upcoming trek in Chiapas, Mexico, that hopes to break some new ground.

Managing Director Paul Lehman says the Chiapas trip, which explores the historical Mayan site beginning September 23, is not your average getaway.

Lehman says, “Chiapas is still undiscovered by most Americans. There are no major resorts or developed coast – it’s still an adventuresome corner of Mexico.”

But besides providing his trekkers with upscale accommodations and access to Mayan historical ruins, the Chiapas trip will leave hikers with more than photos.

Lehman says, “We focus on culture and exploring Mayan civilization. It’s about wanting to learn, and not wanting to be ugly Americans.”
