A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Controversial Words

CULVER CITY, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One adventurous artist in Culver City, California, is using the power of the painted word to stir things up in the art world.

Gulbin Yavuz is the creator of the art gallery Indie Collective, and tomorrow, (Aug. 18) at an exhibit called “T,” Yavuz will unveil four new takes on the traditional T-shirt, including the seven-layered “Multiplicitee,” and the Word Tees, with phrases like “Stay Tuned”, “Melancholy,” and “Abracadabra” hand-painted across the chest.

And while Yavuz’s shirts speak loudly, don’t ask the artist for any answers.

She says, “I’m explaining with everything I do. People should just come to their own conclusions about the art.”

But it’s her ‘Leave Jesus Alone’ shirt that’s sure to cause some surrealist sparks.

Yavuz says, “It’s coming from a completely non religious place. But I’m not afraid of controversy – I hear it’s good for business.”
