Oatmeal Festival Brings Hotness To A Small Town

BERTRAM, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The small town of Bertram, Texas, is throwing a porridge party – and it’s going to be hot!

Around 5,000 breakfast buffs will be pouring into Bertram August 31 to September 1 for the 30th Annual Oatmeal Festival, an event designed to bring attention to Bertram’s tiny, neighboring town of Oatmeal, Texas.

According to event spokeswoman Carolyn Smith, the festival brings out “oatmeal lovers and the city of Oatmeal for a whole lot of oatmeal fun.”

Nearly a ton of oatmeal is used during the festival, to make more than 400 dozen oatmeal cookies and for events like the Oatmeal Eating Contest, where contestants gobble all the goop they can in three minutes.

And for those folks who aren’t feasting – look out – more than 1,000 pounds of the delectable lumps will be dumped from an airplane!
