Author Writes Off Assumptions

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – For one investigative author, finding the truth about the Duke Lacrosse scandal became a personal project.

In his book It’s Not About The Truth, (Pocket Books) bestselling author Don Yaeger investigates the 2006 scandal that led to the arrest – and eventual acquittal – of three Duke lacrosse players for the sexual assault and rape of a stripper.

But as the book blossomed, it was more than just the facts that hit home with Yaeger.

Yaeger says, “I, like most of America, immediately assumed that they were guilty. I had fallen victim, and I thought, as a journalist, I’m going to try to figure out the real truth.”

And while his book cleared his own conscience, Yaeger can’t speak – or write – for the whole country.

He says, “Despite all the facts, people still believe they are guilty, and they’ll carry that guilt.”
