Violinist Bows To Influences

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – On his latest album, one prolific violinist-turned-actor refuses to be plucked into any category.

For his album Luminous, violinist Chris Murphy treats listeners to what he calls an indie-rock interpretation all his musical interests, from rock and ethnic sounds to punk.

And While Murphy cites singer-turned-actor Tom Waits as a major motivator, it’s Waits’ roles in movies like Domino and Coffee and Cigarettes Murphy is now modeling.

Murphy recently appeared on an episode of Fox’s Til Death, and he’s also lent his screen skills to Entourage, but even with his growing cast of credits, he’s no silver screen star.

He explains, “In this day and age, it’s good to be broad in your entertainment skills.”

But don’t expect Murphy to forget about the fiddle.

He says, “I’m not particularly gifted, I’m just keeping the door open to more acting, but I’m not giving up my day job.”
