Rock Band Spotted In U.F.O.

BELLEVUE, Ken. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One band of Midwest rockers are upping the ante for the traditional concert – by arriving on a U.F.O.

Eclectic space-rockers The Flaming Lips release U.F.O.’s At The Zoo: The Legendary Concert In Oklahoma City on July 10, a live concert DVD in which they break out a homemade U.F.O. for their frenzied fans.

Bassist Michael Ivins says the band got some otherworldly inspiration for their extraterrestrial stage prop from bands like P-Funk and Pink Floyd, and movies like Star Wars.

Ivins explains, “We thought, ‘Wouldn’t a U.F.O. on stage be great?’ It started as a napkin sketch and ended up hanging from the rigging.”

But after their spacey shows, the Lips are anything but aliens.

Says Ivins: “People would be surprised at how normal we are. We let our shows be the time where we can be crazy. In a lot of ways, the show is better than real life!”
