Kiddie Yoga Is All The Rage

HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The practice of yoga is turning into child’s play – literally.

Professional yoga instructor Katie Feldman has just created a line of “Spiraling Hearts” yoga games for kids that she says help tots find their “focus and center” while still playing and having fun.

One of the popular games is “Yoga Bingo,” where kids mimic yoga poses to get chips that fill a Bingo card, and yell “YOGA!” once they complete a row on their card to win.

Feldman says the relaxing games are perfect icebreakers for play dates and birthday parties and thinks kids who practice yoga when they’re young succeed both mentally and physically as adults.

Says Feldman: “Yoga helps kids with their balance, focus, and body awareness. Through the exercises, they learn to calm themselves down with their breathing and energy. The yoga games are really positive because they’re not competitive, they’re just relaxing.”

And while kids enjoy the yoga activities, parents can also squeeze in a little workout with their tykes by also playing the games.

Feldman adds, “The kid yoga poses are the same as adult yoga, so parents can play along and not be bored. Everyone wins!”
