Managing Moods Helps Maria McKee Find Proper Mood For Singing

LONDON (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It takes a special producer to deal with a moody singer, which is why Maria McKee admires her husband, Jim Akin.

He produced her new album, Late December, and says he was a genius at managing her many moods – and even capitalizing on them.

McKee confesses: “I have an operatic sense of drama, and Jim would check my moods daily and record the songs accordingly.”

That meant recording a sad song on days when she was down, and upbeat tunes during happier moments.

For instance, she jokes, “We might be watching motocross on TV, and if, say, Bubba wins the race, we’ll high five each other and go to our home studio.”

McKee is happy with the mood of the record and believes it reflects what it’s like when a relationship starts over.

Late December hits stores on Tuesday (Apr. 24).
