Kelly Clarkson’s Purple Guitar Raises Controversy Among Metal Fans

TAMPA, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A purple guitar painted by Kelly Clarkson for a charity guitar auction is rousing controversy among metal fans.

Clarkson painted a purple guitar with a large glittery butterfly for a May 17 charity auction benefitting Little Kids Rock, an organization that donates instruments and rock lessons to public schools.

The auction will be held at the Hollywood House Of Blues as part of a benefit concert honoring Pantera guitarist Darrell “Dimebag” Abbott, who was shot on stage by a fan in 2004.

Most of the guitars were painted by rockers like Sammy Hagar, Linkin Park, and Ozzy Osbourne but auction curator Curse Mackey says Clarkson is doing her part since she knew “Dimebag” when she was a waitress at his favorite comedy club.

Some rockers are angry that Clarkson’s guitar is next to ones painted by Dave Grohl, Kirk Hammett or Tommy Lee but Mackey insists her love of “Dimebag” is real.

That’s why when he publicly displays the guitar, he posts a note explaining that Clarkson knew “Dimebag” even before American Idol.

Advance bids for Clarkson’s guitar – and the others – can be placed at
