Moviegoers Favor ‘Letters From Iwo Jima’ For Oscars – Not That They’re Going To Watch

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If American film fans have their way, Letters From Iwo Jima, will win the Best Picture battle on Oscar night (Feb. 25).

According to a Harris Interactive survey, 19 percent of Americans favor the Clint Eastwood war pic, while 26 percent are evenly divided between The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine.

In addition, 38 percent say Will Smith should win Best Actor for The Pursuit Of Happyness while 26 percent want Meryl Streep to be honored as Best Actress for her work in The Devil Wears Prada.

But even if America’s choices do win, it probably won’t have much effect on the ratings.

Only 43 percent plan to watch the Academy Awards on ABC, and 15 percent say the fact that Ellen DeGeneres is hosting makes them less likely to tune in than last year.
