Polka Music And Accordions Never Sounded Cooler

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Polka music and jolly, fat men in lederhosen don’t always go hand in hand.

Or at least that’s what one rockin’ accordion player in Los Angeles is trying to prove.

Four-time Grammy-nominated polka artist LynnMarie says she’s been trying for years to change polka’s “nerdy, bad rep” by “rocking out” on her accordion during live shows.

LynnMarie’s most popular polka jams are covers of songs such as “Squeeze Box” by The Who and jams by artists from “AC/DC to Stevie Wonder.

Says LynnMarie: “I like adding a happy polka twist to classic rock songs. The arrangements sound modern and like songs today’s kids enjoy. It’s definitely not your grandfather’s polka.”

The funky accordion playing seems to be working out for LynnMarie, who says her music has been embraced all over the U.S. – with the exception of traditional polka cities.

She says, “Polka birthplaces like Minneapolis aren’t big fans because they’re extremely particular about how polka should sound. They can’t understand our edgier polka style so they don’t like it.”
