Big Apple Burlesque Dancer Ready To Party Big Easy Style

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A burlesque dancer in New York wants to heat things up for Hurricane Katrina victims.

Angie Pontani is a burlesque dancer for a troupe called the Pontani sisters, and she says they can’t wait to dance it up New Orleans style for the Mardi Gras: Brooklyn! event scheduled for tomorrow (Feb. 20).

Says Pontani: “Much of burlesque’s history is based in New Orleans – the city has so many fabulous clubs where the art form started.”

She says the girls are doing four dance numbers that incorporate New Orleans “smokin’ jazz” and history, but are staying away from any water-related acts a la Flashdance.

In fact, Pontani is so excited about the show she can’t wait to take it on the road.

As she puts it, “The people down there [New Orleans] are so amazing. We get letters from them asking when we’re coming back. We wouldn’t tone down the show at all – in fact we tend to step it up when we’re down there – New Orleans is off the hook.”
