‘Lincoln Heights’ Mom Finds Work A Real Headache

NASSAU, Bahamas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Playing a mom can be a real headache for actress Nicki Micheaux.

She’s best known for her appearances on shows like Six Feet Under and Soul Food, but currently plays Jen Sutton, the main female lead on the ABC Family Channel drama Lincoln Heights.

Micheaux says the role isn’t easy because, she explains, “The character provides a lot of support and nurturing, but underneath there is pain since she left her home in the suburbs to move to a crack house with her husband.”

She’s enjoying the work and especially the comments from fans who say the depiction of a functional African-American family on TV is “a breath of fresh air.”

Still, she admits the job can literally be a headache, such as the scene she recently filmed for a plot where her character is kidnapped.

In her words, “the stunt driver was swerving us around and that scene where I’m banging against the window? That’s not acting.”

Lincoln Heights airs Monday nights.
