1910 Fruitgum Company Drummer Chews Out Music Myths

MARMORA, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A drummer for one of the biggest bubblegum bands of the 1960s is chewing out the folks who are spreading myths about the musical genre.

Floyd Marcus is the original drummer of the 1910 Fruitgum Company, which is best known for hits like “Simon Says,” and “1-2-3 Red Light.”

He recently rejoined the band and, after surfing the web to find out what was being written about the Fruitgum Company, discovered there were many misconceptions about the band.

For instance, many fans of the genre assume the group was a studio concoction but Marcus say it was an existing band before it was signed that wrote its own songs.

As he puts it, “People have this idea that it was all phony but we were a real band.”

Now, Marcus is hoping to set the record straight by writing the band’s true story at, a website dedicated to the genre.
