Telenovela Actor Admits: ‘Playing A Nice Guy Is A Stretch’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It’s not easy playing a nice guy – even if you’re one in real life.

That’s the acting challenge faced by Dan Wells, who plays Eric Simpson on the new MyNetworkTV telenovela Watch Over Me.

He’s the nice guy best friend of series star Todd Cahoon and Wells says it wasn’t easy being decent, especially because his previous roles on shows like Day Of Our Lives, required him to be a real snake.

As he puts it, “It’s a stretch to play a nice guy, even though of all the roles I’ve played, Eric is the one most like me.”

Nice guy roles can be bland so Simpson tried to avoid that by deciding that his character is a former bad boy who is trying to reform in order to win the heart of a woman he describes as “a crazy girl with a gun.”

He jokes: “All the other actors were ripping on me during shooting because I’m the catalyst for all the action. I get the others to do the things that eventually backfire.”

Watch Over Me, which also stars Dayanara Torres, Casper Van Dien and Catherine Oxenberg, airs six nights a week.
