Jimmy Stewart Treated ‘Wonderful Life’ Daughter Like His Own

CARNATION, Wash. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A former child actress in Carnation, Washington, says the most wonderful thing about being in the classic film It’s A Wonderful Life was being Jimmy Stewart’s on screen daughter.

Former child actress Karolyn Grimes played Stewart and Donna Reed’s youngest daughter Zuzu in the film and says although she never spoke to Reed, she felt a special bond with Stewart.

Says Grimes: “I was always in his arms or giving him a hug – all my scenes were with him and he was so kind.”

She says she lost contact with Stewart over the years but reconnected with him in the early ’90s at a reunion for the flick.

She says she will never forget the “blessed day” when Stewart invited her and a longtime fan over for lunch and ended up spending the afternoon looking at all of his scrapbooks and listening to his stories about Hollywood.

As she puts it, “He did so many wonderful things for people – I know he definitely got his wings up in heaven.”

Grimes’ new book, Zuzu’s Recipe for It’s A Wonderful Life Cookbook (A Relative Pictures Book), hits stores later this month.
