Couple Stays In Bed All Day For AIDS

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Some people are so devoted to AIDS awareness that they’re willing to stay all day in bed.

That’s what AIDS activists Shawn Decker and his wife, Gwenn Barringer, are planning to do on December 1, which just happens to be Worlds AIDS Day.

Decker and Barringer are hoping to raise AIDS awareness by taking a tip from John Lennon and Yoko Ono and spending the whole time in bed at an as yet undetermined hotel.

Decker – a hemophiliac who contracted AIDS 20 years ago from a blood transfusion – admits the Lennons’ famous bed-in for peace is an inspiration but jokes there are more practical reasons.

As he puts it, “It’s hard for us to get out of bed anyway.”

Although Decker and Barringer are nowhere near as famous as John and Yoko, he figures there will still be some media attention because, he points out, “World AIDS Day falls on a Friday, which is usually a slow news day. If we get just one guy with a podcast, we’ll be happy.”
