‘Dashboard Mohammed’ Is A Hit With Muslims

HONOLULU (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A doll maker in Honolulu is turning heads with his latest creation – but it may cause his own head to get chopped off.

The product is a bobblehead Muslim called “Dashboard Mohammed.”

Creator Timothy Ames came up with the idea after seeing the worldwide reaction to the publication of a cartoon depicting the Islamic prophet.

Islamic law forbid the depiction of the prophet and Ames admits that he was a tad nervous about marketing his bobbling Mohammed.

Still, he’s been pleasantly surprised by all the support he’s received – especially with Muslim-Americans, who have been among his biggest customers.

Says Ames: “They thought it was funny, and are just as concerned with the world as everyone else.”

In fact, he says he’s only gotten “a few bad emails” and says while he is aware that it’s against the rules of Islam to depict any graven images, he’s not concerned of having a fatwa placed on him anytime soon.
