Mannheim Steamroller Skating On Thin Ice

OMAHA, Neb. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The popular instrumental group Mannheim Steamroller is skating on thin ice this weekend.

That’s because the Steamroller is providing the musical accompaniment for Halloween On Ice, an NBC skating special airing tomorrow (Oct. 28).

Steamroller leader Chip Davis says his group performed live and says he made sure to use click tracks since most of the skaters – including Nancy Kerrigan – are used to doing routines to recorded music.

But the special isn’t the Steamroller’s only foray into Halloween. Davis has just released his second haunting recording, a CD/ DVD package called Halloween 2, as well as a novel about the holiday, Halloween: The World Between (American Gramophone).

Davis and the Steamroller started out doing Christmas music and have added theme shows for Valentine’s Day and July 4th, so what’s next?

He jokes: “Someone is telling me I should do a Groundhog Day album.”
