Paris Gives Horror Buff The Creeps

WILMINGTON, Del. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Paris may be for lovers – but it gives one horror buff the chills.

Horror fan Leon Marcelo has traveled the world looking for historical horror sites for his book Creepy Crawls: A Horror Fiend’s Travel Guide (Santa Monica Press) but says even he couldn’t stand the underground catacombs in Paris.

That’s because Marcelo likes to visit fictional murder sites and the catacombs were a little too real for him to stomach.

As Marcelo puts it, “When you’re surrounded by six million dead people underground and its claustrophobic and dank and dark – you just want to get out.”

He says he and his wife did enjoy retracing Jack the Ripper’s steps in London and weren’t as creeped out by his real life story because “he’s been so fictionalized over the years.”

For now he plans to stick with sights in the U.S. like Stephen King’s childhood home and the cemetery used in the Nightmare on Elm Street series.
