The British Have A Word For It – If It’s Dirty

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – When it comes to talking dirty, no one does it quite like the British.

In fact, a new book, Knickers In A Twist: A Dictionary Of English Slang (CanonGate), suggests the Brits have more than stiff upper lips when it comes to sex.

For example: When a male Brit talks about masturbating, he may use the phrase “bash the Bishop” – an obvious reference to some kind of resemblance between a male sex organ and a chess Bishop.

On the other hand, a Englishwoman who wants her man to perform oral sex might ask him to “tip the velvet.”

Other dirty phrases that are lewd in London but nice in New York include....

  • “Top shag,” which is the term for the person you’d rather be having sex with, rather than who you’re doing it with now.

  • A “wankbank” is a repository of mental images that are accessed when you’re horny and alone.

Finally, “cottaging” is the polite term for cruising public toilets for anonymous sex.
