Hector Elizondo Gets Lifetime Achievement Award

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – September 17 should be a good day for actor Hector Elizondo.

That’s when the veteran actor – who is best known for his roles on Chicago Hope and as the hotel manager in Pretty Woman – will be receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival.

Elizondo is thrilled by the tribute treatment but confused because, as he puts it, “I don’t think of acting as a career. I think of having jobs.”

He figures he’s getting the award because, in his words, “I’m like Lou Gehrig or Cal Ripken, Jr. – lots of consecutive games. I’m lucky I stayed healthy to last this long.”

He says the best part of being “established” is that now he only has to work when he wants, “either for friends or for projects with value.”

Elizondo also likes having time to play outfield in a senior softball league, a position he plays because, “I’m the only one who can run while looking up.”
