Soulfly Frontman Sees Future Of Metal In World Music

PHEONIX (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – World Music and heavy metal don’t often mix, but throw in rock en espanol and you’ve really got something unique.

That’s what singer Max Calavera hopes. He’s the former frontman of Sepultera and now fronts the heavy metal band Soulfly; and he hopes to one day see his band collaborate with artists like Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon.

In Calavera’s words: “It’s all about crediting your roots – that’s why I thank people like Dave Grohl for thanking us in their credits.”

Calavera is set to tour the United States this fall, before heading to East Asia and Australia.

The globe-trotting helps sell records and also songwriting.

As he puts it: “You might be able to reproduce those sounds with a computer, but it’s just not the same.”
