Morning 40 Federation Makes Morning After New Orleans Music

NEW ORLEANS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – This Tuesday (Aug. 29) marks the anniversary of the day Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.

Signs of the uniquely colorful life in New Orleans are steadily returning, and an odd band called Morning 40 Federation is glad to provide the soundtrack.

Josh Cohen, saxophonist of the multi-piece noise-jazz outfit, says the Ninth Ward’s patchwork of artists, outlaws, oddballs and icons all contribute to his band’s wildly quirky sound.

Cohen says their music is also very much like the wake of Katrina’s devastation – ugly, but increasingly hopeful.

He adds, “It’s like it’s the morning after and you have to piece together the previous night like a private eye trying to solve a murder – except all we killed were brain cells.”

Morning 40 Federation are currently touring behind their sophomore album, Ticonderoga.
