‘Commander In Chief’ Fan Commands ABC Bring It Back

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Geena Davis’ presidential drama Commander In Chief was sacked earlier this year for low ratings but one fan suspects another reason: her portrayal as a female president.

Commander fan W.R. Mineo is on a one-man campaign to bring back the show, which he believes was pulled because bigwigs feared it had the potential to sway the upcoming 2008 presidential election towards a woman like Hillary Clinton.

Mineo hopes to revive the series by creating a website, www.freshdames.net, where fans can sign a petition commanding ABC to put Commander In Chief back on the air.

So far, he’s gotten about 80 signatures, but hopes to get hundreds more.

One signature he hasn’t received is from Davis herself, but Mineo admits he doesn’t expect one.

As he puts it, “I’m sure Geena Davis has got much better things to do” with her time than “talk to a computer geek like me,” but he says he would be thrilled if she was somehow briefed on his efforts.
