Parents Shouldn’t Sweat Extreme Teen Trends For Back To School

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you want to be ahead of the back to school trends for teens this fall, think “layers” – and “extremely personal” extremes.

That’s the forecast from Twist Magazine editor-in- chief Betsy Fast – who’s also quick to note that this semester will see teens making “their own, very personal styles up as they go” in ways previous generations “will probably envy.”

As Fast puts it, “The latest trends, like skinny jeans and flats, plaids, tights and even skull prints, are the same as last spring, actually.”

But she adds that today’s hyper-connected social networking helps teens seek out their very own clothing identities to set more original, personalized trends.

In her words, “Parents may be a little shocked [when suddenly] their kid is sporting goth clothes, maybe even with safety pins – but it’s more often JUST being worn as a style nowadays, nothing more than that.”
