Paul McCartney Returns To Classical Music

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Paul McCartney has recorded lots of classic rock albums and soon he’ll be releasing his fourth classical music album.

On September 26, the former Beatle will release Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart), which has reportedly been eight years in the making, ever since he was commissioned to write the work by Anthony Smith, the president of Magdalen College Oxford.

McCartney hopes the composition will be as hummable as Handel’s The Messiah, and was thrilled to use some Latin lyrics that were inspired by his time at the Liverpool Institute High School for Boys.

The hardest part, he says, was working with a childrens choir.

As he puts it, “An experienced choral composer knows that children can’t be given huge sustained passages; they don’t have the energy or stamina.”

He says he didn’t realize this while writing the piece because many of the choral parts were performed on the synthesizer which, he points out, “has endless stamina.”
