Asian-Oriented T-Shirts Give Stereotypes A Dressing-Down

TORRANCE, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – An Asian-American man is nipping stereotypes about his culture in the bud through the medium of T-shirts.

Ryan Suda runs, which was formerly a surf company until he became politically charged about ten years ago while taking a class on Asian-American history.

His first T-shirt read Asian, Not Oriental and he has since tackled other stereotypes with slogans such as I Will Not Love You Long Time; I Love North Korea – It’s Kim Jong Il I Hate and, of course, I Suck At Math.

Suda says that while many Caucasians say they genuinely appreciate Asian culture, their admiration still comes with preconceived notions that may not have anything to do with reality.

So maybe it’s no surprise that his most controversial T- shirt features a fake personal from a single white male seeking a submissive, obedient Asian female for, among other things, backrubs.

Suda admits, “Some Asian women have thought I was making fun of them. I’m not against interracial dating, just the stereotypes.”
