Thats the recommendation of Deborah Addington, author of a new book, Play Piercing (Greenery Press), that points out the joys of sticking needles just under the surface of your skin.
Addington says lots of people enjoy the rush of needle play and that when youre tripping the bodys survival system, it generates a lot of endorphins.
But there are some sticking points to follow: Addington says the pectoral areas, breasts and shoulders are great places, but recommends only poking your belly button if its an inny, not an outie.
Also, avoid sticking needles in the face, hands or feet; take extra care f youre poking someones privates.
Addington says there will be blood, but theres less of it the longer you leave the needle in the skin.
Although the rush from play piercing can be ecstatic, Addington doesnt recommend doing it every day.
She adds: I dont eat at my favorite fancy restaurant every night either. Once a week is enough.
