Life’s A Beach For Miami Ocean Rescue Squad

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Life isn’t easy for lifeguards – as any episode of Baywatch will prove – but there are some advantages to saving lives in Miami Beach, Florida.

That’s what filmmaker Kathleen French discovered while filming the new Court TV reality series, Miami Beach Patrol, which debuts on Monday (July 10).

She says that Miami’s beaches may have dangers like rip currents but it also has “the best looking tourists around.”

French’s crew filmed the Miami Ocean Rescue Squad for six weeks this past spring, and says that while helping people is a daily part of the squad’s job, the lifeguards have no way of predicting exactly how they’ll help them.

Sometimes, patrol members will help a woman try and find her autographed football and other times, they’ll have to treat a guy who suffers blunt trauma to the chest during a football game.

However, her favorite incident concerns the man charged with drunk driving on a moped – who insists he can’t be arrested because he just signed a recording contract.
