Being A Chicken Never Felt So Good

WAYNE, Neb. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Forget “duck, duck, goose,” because chickens are all the rage in Wayne, Nebraska.

For 28 years, the town has been the site of the annual Wayne Chicken Show, which starts Friday (July 7).

The funky event boasts a chicken parade, a dancing chicken mascot and tons of chicken-themed games designed to get you out of your shell.

This year’s “eggcellent” event will include the “Best Chicken Legs” contest, where contestants stand behind a curtain and have their drumsticks judged by the audience and the “Hard-boiled Egg Eating Contest,” whose reigning champion devoured 13 eggs last year.

But the hit of the event is the “National Cluck- Off.”

That’s where the best cluckers in the house – who often arrive dressed up and bearing props – battle it out for the honor of being the funkiest chicken.

Competition is a part of the festivities, but no one gets their feathers ruffled because, as Irene Fletcher explains, “Everyone gets prizes in our games.”

Luckily, the event only takes place on a Friday and Saturday, which means the visitors will have July 9 to re-coop-erate.
