Former ‘GH’ Star Dedicates Life To Rescuing Animals

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Some people quit their day job to focus on acting, but one former General Hospital cast member quit acting in order to rescue animals.

Chris DeRose is best known for playing “Dino” on the long-running ABC soap back in the 1980s, and while he had a successful acting career, he’s spent the bulk of the last 16 years rescuing animals being sold into research labs.

It’s his true passion, even though he’s been threatened numerous times and even shot twice while undercover.

Still, DeRose is not opposed to taking on an acting assignment or two, such as his current role as a mob boss in Desire, a new nighttime soap opera debuting in September on the fledgling network MyNetworkTV.

He enjoyed jumping back into showbiz, in part, because, he “had more latitude with the character than ever before” and also because “the paycheck is helping me with some debts.”

Desire debuts September 5.
