According to spokeswoman for the Christopher Reeve Foundation, Maggie Goldberg, before Reeve died last year, she sent a dogtag featuring the Man of Steels famous S logo to Routh, along with a letter congratulating him on the role.
Goldberg says Reeve added that she thought Routh looked just like her husband.
Routh was so pleased with the tag, he gave one to his Dad, who now wears it proudly.
But Routh isnt the only celebrity wearing a Superman tag. His co-star, Kate Bosworth, has been seen wearing one, as has Orlando Bloom and Eva Longoria.
Now the Christopher Reeve Foundation is selling the tags as a fundraiser and Goldberg hopes they become super-popular with non- celebrities as well much like Batman T-shirts were all the rage in 1989.
