Spelling Bee Champ Has No Words For Fame

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The past few weeks have been busy for National Spelling Bee Champion Katherine Close – and she has no words to describe the experience.

She admits, “I never knew the full extent of the attention I’d get,” and adds, she appreciates the great opportunity.

So far, the 13-year-old super speller has been interviewed countless times by the media and got to meet Jimmy Kimmel. She also had a chance to help inaugurate a new cruise ship, the Crown Princess, by appearing on a “Bee At Sea” with former Love Boat Captain Gavin McLeod yesterday (Jun. 13).

The wordsmith frenzy doesn’t look like it’s ending anytime soon. Close figures to be a busy bee this summer and has agreed to write a new teen column for a newspaper in her hometown of Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Close is at a loss for words about what she’ll write, but hopes it gives her a chance to try being a journalist, which is what she wants to be when she grows up.
