‘Stop The Insanity’ Woman Starts Comeback

SEATTLE (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Back in the early 1990s, Susan Powter became an infomercial staple for her catch phrase, “Stop the insanity!”

Now, she’s starting down the comeback trail with a new infomercial debuting this weekend.

Powter – who was once known for her dyed-blonde butch cut – now has pink dreadlocks and a new series of videos she calls Lifestyle Exchange.

She says it is based on what she learned while taking eight years off from the infomercial business in order to give birth at the age of 40, and includes helpful eating tips like, “If it glows in the dark, or you can’t pronounce the ingredients, don’t eat it.”

Powter claims she sold more than $200 million worth of product in a ten-year period and admits stopping her infomercial gravy train wasn’t easy.

As she puts it, “I had people who told me not to have a baby but I said, ‘You don’t own my uterus’ and fired them all.”

Besides changing her busy lifestyle, the 48-year-old Powter chose to adopt the new hairstyle.

In her words, “I get women of all ages who tell me, ‘I like your hair and I don’t know why.’ I tell them, ‘If my mother had felt comfortable enough to have pink dreadlocks when she was 48, she wouldn’t have died at 52.”’
