New Computer One Whopper Of A Digital Football Coach

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It might evoke a gridiron version of the movie WarGames, but a new computer program can now help you second-guess NFL play-callers as well.

It’s called ZEUS, and it’s the creation of Indiana University scientist Chuck Bower, who spent three years of work to create the ultimate football coaching computer model.

According to Bower, “The model helps you settle the questions so many fans have: ‘Should the coach have made that call and what did he base his play-calling on?”’

Bower says crunching statistics is as crucial to NFL coaches as it is to baseball coaches and adds, “As game model theory, the two sports are definitely in the same ballpark.”

Bower does admit to one drawback for his whopper of a computer football coach: ZEUS doesn’t know any trick plays – yet.
