Fashion Expert Turns Disastrous Prom Memories Into Advice

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Wayward fashion designs aren’t the only thing being recycled to inspire the latest prom trends this season. Bad fashion experiences are too.

That’s the word from Senior Writer Kim Eskew of, a website that offers tips on choosing a personalized ensemble to fit every belle like a glass slipper.

What’s gratifying for Eskew is to be able to pass on priceless prom tips that she learned the hard way.

A self-described “reader geek,” she says that even by 1989 style standards, her own black-and-white, polka dot prom miniskirt was awful.

Also, future promgoers should learn from Eskew’s mistake and leave the home perm at home. She says she was “convinced to get a perm from hell,” and describes the curly ‘do as her crowning failure.

Today, she gives teens a dressing down and recommends they wear clothes that give them confidence, or, in her words make them feel like “having a ball.”
