Squidoo Puts New Lens To Website Search

IRVINGTON, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – An internet marketer is betting that a squid can do what Google can’t.

Seth Godin is the brains behind, a website that allows people to create their own signposts – or “lenses” – when doing a web search to provide the most relevant information to their tasks.

As he puts it, “Google is too good at what it does. It brings up too many matches.”

Godin named the website “squidoo” because “a squid has big eyes” and he figures the website provides more relevant searches, without all the links to sex websites than occur with Google and other search engines.

That’s because any website that’s not “office friendly” gets flagged.

Squidoo has been online for seven weeks and there are already more than 17,000 “lenses.” Interestingly, the most popular topic is “How to waste time on the internet.”
