Photographer May Have Uncovered The Secret To Long Marriages

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you’re looking for the secret to a long, successful marriage, one New York-based photographer may know it.

Robert Fass photographed and interviewed 37 couples married for at least 40 years for a project he hopes to turn into a book called As Long As We Both Shall Live: Long-Married Couples In America.

Fass says, “People always ask me, ‘What’s the secret?’ and I say, ‘They seem to like to wear the same pants.’”

One of the couples he captured on film wears matching plaid pants, and Fass says he visited another couple the other day who were “both wearing baggy, faded jeans.”

All joking aside, Fass says he’s gotten pearls of wisdom from them such as: The three words that save a marriage are not “I love you,” but “Maybe you’re right.”

Another woman in her seventies told Fass she married one lucky man because, “He was the best lay I ever had. What else gets people together? Passion.”

Fass’ work goes on exhibition in New York Feb. 4 and can be viewed online at
