Thats according to Fit Pregnancy magazine new issue which tabulated the best 20 cities in the U.S. to have a kid in.
According to their editors, based on 47 criteria including fertility services, maternal and infant health risks, access to hospitals and doctors and stroller friendliness, Portland takes the top honor.
Portland in particular has a low maternal mortality rate, an above average number of OB-GYNs and a small number of low-weight births.
Second place to Portland is Boston, followed by Minneapolis.
This isnt the first distinction for Portland this year. The city also came in as the 17th fittest city in America for 2006 based on a study released by Mens Fitness magazine.
